JAMES WILSON.  12" illuminated, raised relief, antique ocean, tabletop globe.  Aristocratic grandeur.  This stately desktop globe evokes the mapmaking craftsmanship of the early 19th Century, when cartographer James Wilson, the father of American globe-making, taught himself how to create a globe much like this one.  Details like the lustrous hardwood cradle, full die-cast meridian, and antique styling harken back to Wilson's most famous creations.  The globe is firmly rooted in the modern age, though, with up-to-date countries and boundaries, a raised-relief surface to simulate mountain ranges, and even an internal light.
