South
Korea Handbook. 3rd edition. Moon
Publications.
Want to know about hiking in the Seorak Mountains, exploring ruins
of
the
Silla dynasty in Gyeongju, or touring Seoul’s palaces? Looking for
details on visiting the DMZ or Jeju Island? You'll find them in here.
Big or small, mainstream or obscure, every worthwhile sight and activity
in South Korea is covered in this book.
"This is a exhaustive
survey of almost every corner of the country, from the volcanic ridges
of Ullung-do in the Sea of Japan to the honeymoon island of Hong-do off
the soutwestern coast . . . . Mixed in with lucid commentaries on
temples and mountains is plenty of practical information on
accommodation and transportation." —Mark Clifford, Far Eastern Economic
Review
ABOUT THE AUTHOR ROBERT NILSEN (would you buy a used car from this guy?)
Robert Nilsen was born and raised in Minnesota (already a bad sign). His
first major excursion from the Midwest was a two-year stint in South
Korea
with the Peace Corps. Following that eye-opening service, he
stayed on in Korea independently, teaching and traveling. Setting
his sights on other lands and cultures, he made a two-year trek through
Asia before returning home to the United States, and since then has had
the good fortune to return to Asia and the Pacific on numerous
occasions. Robert has written Moon Handbooks South Korea for
Avalon Travel Publishing, and has contributed to Moon Handbooks
Indonesia. Since the passing of his good friend J.D. Bisignani, he
has shouldered full responsibility for the revision of Moon Handbooks'
Hawaii series, including Moon Handbooks Hawaii, Moon Handbooks Kaua‘i,
Moon Handbooks O‘ahu, Moon Handbooks Maui, and Moon Handbooks Big Island
of Hawai‘i.
