Israel & the Sinai Desert - Travel Video.
Globe Trekker Video. VHS.

The
Holy Lands of Israel and the Sinai Desert sit at the crossroads of three
continents - Asia, Africa and Europe - and of three great religions -
Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Jews have lived here for over 3,000
years, but the State of Israel was only created in 1948. It is
called the Jewish Promised Land; the land of Jesus; and believed by many
to be where Mohammed ascended to Heaven.

Tel Aviv where she celebrates the start of Shabbat. Traveling
through Jerusalem she journeys on to Hebron, capital of the Occupied West
Bank. She then crosses the border into the Sinai Desert before
venturing south to Sharm el-Sheikh. Here, Justine scuba dives in the
Red Sea amongst some of the world's most brilliant and amazing underwater
scenery. 47 minutes

moving docu-drama about the life of Jesus has sold over half a million copies.
Beautifully filmed in the Holy Land in the very places where
God walked as man, the
events in the life of Jesus are faithfully and poignantly recreated to the
accompaniment of timeless songs of praise.
Vol.1: Walking With Jesus
Visit the Church of the Nativity and relive the birth of Jesus. Walk
the streets of Nazareth, where Jesus came of age. Wade the Jordan River
where He was baptized by His cousin John. Climb the hill to the
Church of the Beatitudes where the Sermon on the Mount and the Miracle of

Ascension, hear the risen Christ's last words, "Behold I am with you even
to the end of the world." 2 Hours.

Rick Steves'
Greece, Turkey, Israel, and Egypt 2000-2007
- Travel Video. DVD.
Eight
Shows: 4 hours,
closed captioned, NTSC format, all region compatible.
Here's where we'll take
you...
Athens
and the Peloponnese
— Viewers will get familiar
with the old port of Nafplio and explore the Peloponnese Peninsula
before plunging into frenetic, sprawling Athens. They'll look at the
ruins of Olympia, the best preserved ancient theater at Epidauros and
the ancient capital of Mycenae. Then, seeing beyond the crowded streets
of
Athens, we return to the city's incredible historic core. Our journey to
ancient Greece means climbing to the majestic Acropolis, visiting the
National Archeological Museum and exploring a centuries-old market.
Also, we sample retsina wine, eat scrumptious Greek specialties, learn a
Greek dance in the Plaka and sleep in the old town.
Greek
Islands — The
Greek Islands' sunny climate, great beaches and relaxed culture attracts
travelers from all corners. Island hopping on the Aegean ferries, we
visit touristy, exotic Santorini (starting with an island bus tour),
ride a motorbike around Samos, and hang out on the barely-known island
of Lipsi where we sample the local cuisine. We stroll on an
out-of-the-way black sand beach. Other quiet moments include visiting
peaceful Spiliani Monastery, the ancient ruins of Akroteri and the
Temple of Hera. With tips from the tourist office, we find offbeat and
fun ways to island hop and our own picturesque places to stay.
Istanbul
— At Europe's gateway to Asia, we explore the historic, crowded city of
Istanbul. We get lost in the Grand Bazaar, feast like kings with locals
at a fisherman's wharf, and follow stories of the Byzantine Empire at
the ancient wall, St. Sophia, and Topkapi Palace. To escape the
high-pitched city bustle, we board a boat on the churning Bosphorus,
gaining a view of the Bridge of Galata and the elegant Dolmabahce
Palace.
West
Turkey — For half
the price of visiting Greece, Turkey offers as much intrigue, history,
sun, friendliness and scrumptious food. We visit spectacular Greek ruins
at Ephesus and Aphrodisias and ancient hot springs at Pamukkale. Viewers
can travel up the Meander River, visit a Turkish bath, eat Turkish pizza
and get tips on staying healthy in foreign countries. An exotic culture
to most Americans, Turkey feels more familiar as we discover a blend of
ancient and modern in nomadic life, whirling Dervishes, and strong
Muslim beliefs.
Central
Turkey — Before
heading for the modern capital, Ankara, we folk dance through
tea-soaked, hospitable and engaging ancient villages in central Turkey.
From geological wonders in Cappadocia's byzantine cave churches and
cliff dwellings to the red pottery kilns of Avanos, friendly locals
welcome visitors. The offer of good deals on camel rides and carpets
fade near the unspoiled town of Guzelyurt. By the time we reach Ankara,
the modern world is back. We learn about Ataturk — called the father of
the Turks — who led Turkey from a sultan's empire to the updated scene
of the 1920's.
Eastern
Turkey — After a
Mount Ararat sunrise, we visit Abraham's 4000-year-old home town, tour
one of the world's biggest dams, cheer on grease wrestlers, meet the
gods atop Mount Nemrut, and dance with new friends in a village.
Israel
— We visit the new and the old Israel. Starting in Jerusalem and going
on to the ancient fortress of Masada and the Sea of Galilee, we see
Israel's past unfold at historic and religious sites. In Jerusalem, the
Holy Land's capitol city, Jews pray at the Wailing Wall, Muslims worship
at the Dome of the Rock and Christians at the Church of the Holy
Sepulcher. Near chic, crowded Tel Aviv we stop to enjoy a Mediterranean
beach and our visit ends too soon, as we watch fishermen on the Sea of
Galilee.
Egypt
— Egypt offers a visual potpourri of high energy and ancient mystery —
from chaotic, urban Cairo to the silent temples and tombs near Luxor and
the Valley of the Kings. We explore pharaohs' pyramids at Giza and gold
treasures at Cairo's National Museum. Rick has fun with the inevitable
camel ride. Each stop on the route leaves an indelible imprint: a
colorful, medieval bazaar, a feluca sail down the Nile, a bike ride
through the countryside and the ancient Temple of Karnak.

Jerusalem: Within These Walls - Travel Video. National Geographic.
VHS.
Within a square mile, enclosed by stone
wall, live 26,000 people. Representing a multitude of nations,
religions, and cultures, the people of this city rejoice in the historical
and spiritual significance of their home--Jerusalem. National
Geographic examines the lives of some of the residents in its 59-minute
documentary.
The area of the Old City is divided into
four
quarters--Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and Armenian--each of which surrounds
an emblem of its culture: the Western Wall of the Second Temple, the Dome
of the Rock mosque, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, and the Cathedral of
St. James. As the spiritual center of the three Western religions,
Jerusalem may always be a city of tension and turmoil, yet its undeniable
beauty and importance force people of differing beliefs to live side by
side.
Jews of 120 cultural backgrounds live
in the Jewish quarter. The Zadok family immigrated from Yemen, where
Jews faced tremendous persecution. In Israel they still hold onto
many of their traditions, including elaborate wedding rituals, noted for
their ornate finery. The video also introduces the third Jewish
couple--a Belgian man and his sabra (a native-born Israeli) wife--to move
into the Old City after its liberation from Jordan in the war of 1967.
We then move to the Muslim quarter, where we meet a family who has lived
in Jerusalem for 1,300 years. A young man embraces both
tradition--as a furniture repairer--and modern life--as an actor on an
Israeli Arabic TV show.
In the Christian quarter, Father Timothy is presented, a Greek monk who
has dedicated his life to serving the church that stands where Jesus was
crucified. Finally, we meet an Armenian man, who escaped the
holocaust of his own country, was sold into slavery, and finally was
rescued by a Jerusalem orphanage. Telling a remarkable tale of
survival, of both the city and her people, this video shows Jerusalem in
all her splendor. 59 minutes.
