The Great Canadian Train Ride - Travel Video.
Doug Jones, International Travel Films.

In
1955, the Canadian Pacific inaugurated the "Canadian," a new train
designed to offer the ultimate in rail luxury. It was then, and
remains today, on e of the longest rail journeys of the world. After
years of constant use, VIA Rail took on the daunting task of completely
restoring all of the original 1955 stainless steel equipment including the
bullet lounge Park Cars, the observation dome cars, the dining cars and
bedroom cars.
You'll see footage of
the original laying of the tracks at the turn of the century, early steam
trains crossing the prairies, film of the original 1955 journey of the
"Canadian" and you'll visit the yards in Montreal today and watch the
historic rolling stock being restored. 80

America's Historic Steam Railroads - Travel Video. 9 Volume Set.
Goldhil Home Media.
~ Collector's Item - Only 2 complete sets left in the World ~
Since their invention, railroads have
captured the imagination of people of all ages and played a pivotal role
in the industrial development of our world. Nowhere was this more true
than in America. Railroads were the backbone of the nation, and their
stories are full of the folklore and legends of American history.
Today,
children and adults of all ages continue to delight to the sights and
sounds of these engineering marvels by visiting the many tourist railroads
being maintained and operated around the country. America’s Historic Steam
Railroads takes viewers on unique and fascinating visits to the most
popular steam locomotive-powered, historic railroads in the country.
Scenic beauty, history and engineering accomplishments come together in
America’s Historic Steam Railroads.
California Western Railroad
Operating between Fort Bragg on the
coast and the inland valley town of Willits, the California Western
Railroad, or “Skunk Train” as it is knows, takes visitors on a 40-mile
trip across the beautiful northern California countryside. For over 100
years trains have carried logs, loggers, freight and passengers through
the towering redwoods and mountain meadows. A variety of railway equipment
operates on the line, including a vintage 1925 motorcar and a magnificent
Baldwin steam locomotive. A must see attraction in one of our nation’s
most beautiful regions.
Cass Scenic Railroad
Originally built in 1902 the Cass Scenic
Railroad is an authentic preservation of a steam-powered mountain-logging
railroad. The beautiful and high mountains of eastern West Virginia
provide plenty of challenge for the railroad’s collection of Heisler, Shay
and Climax locomotives. Switchbacks and grades of 11 percent provide
passengers with thrilling panoramas of mountain scenery. The charming town
of Cass compliments the railroad and together take visitors back to a true
turn-of-the-century experience.
Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad
From desert valley to rocky mountain
passes the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is a 64-mile journey of
unparalleled beauty and magnificent steam action! It is the longest and
highest narrow gauge steam railroad in America. Originally trackage of the
Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad, the line is now preserved as the
finest remaining example of the vast network, which connected commercial
outposts in the Rocky Mountain region and is now a Registered National
Historic Site.
Georgetown Loop Railroad
Located in the Rocky Mountains of
central Colorado, the Georgetown Loop Railroad was built in the 1870’s to
serve the booming mining towns of Georgetown and Silver Plume. This narrow
gauge line was an engineering wonder of its time, rising over six hundred
feet between the two towns, making numerous sharp curves and actually
looping over itself to negotiate the grade in a spectacular canyon. In
addition to the beautiful scenery and fascinating history, the ride
includes a tour of the old Silver Plume mine. The boom days of the Old
West come alive at the Georgetown Loop Railroad.
Grand Canyon Railway
Turn-of-the-century railroading lives
along the beautiful 65-mile line of the Grand Canyon Railway. Originally
opened in 1901 by the Santa Fe Railway, the line was built to make the
trip to the canyon as easy as possible and draw visitors to the
spectacular sights of the west. Starting in historic Williams, Arizona
this wonderful railroad takes passengers on a two-hour trip through pine
forests and across small canyons and grassy plains right up to the south
rim of the Grand Canyon. A memorable experience for the whole family!
Illinois Railway Museum
First organized in 1941, the Illinois
Railway Museum is the result of over fifty years of dedicated volunteer
work. Today it is one of the largest and most popular railroading
showcases in the nation. Located in Union, Illinois, the museum features
over 300 different pieces of railroad equipment including nine steam
locomotives. Visitors enjoy scenic rides through the countryside and see
first hand the viral role railroads played in building Chicago and the
nation. From steam to diesel to trolley cars, the Illinois Railway Museum
is a delight for everyone and its important restoration and preservation
work insures that powerful steam locomotives will continue to be
experienced for years to come.

New Hampshire Steam Railroad
Although small in size, New Hampshire is
big on railroads! The Mt. Washington Cog Railway was started in 1869 and
remains one of the most awesome rides in the world. Steam powered cog
locomotives push passenger cars to the very top of Mt. Washington, the
highest spot in the Northeast. South of Mt. Washington is the wonderful
White Mountain Central Railroad featuring restored steam logging
locomotives and east is the Conway Scenic Railroad with its magnificent
station, working turntable and fabulous rolling stock. No other state has
more steam trains per square mile than the Granite State.
Roaring Camp & Big Trees Narrow-Gauge Railroad
Located in the beautiful Redwood forests
of Felton in California’s Santa Cruz County, the Roaring Camp & Big Trees
Railroad takes passengers back to the historic logging days when great
steam locomotives carried giant redwood logs from forest to saw mill. The
railroad climbs the steepest narrow-gauge grade in North America as it
carries passengers through majestic groves of Coastal Redwoods, around
tight turns and on to the top of Bear Mountain where passengers enjoy
spectacular groves of Redwoods.
Strasburg Railroad
Open in 1832 the Strasburg Railroad is
America’s oldest continually operating shortline railroad. Its passengers
ride through the beautiful Pennsylvania Dutch Amish country of Lancaster
County, Pennsylvania. The Strasburg Railroad maintains one of the most
outstanding collections of operating steam locomotives anywhere in the
world and the passenger coaches are painstakingly maintained to give
visitors a true turn-of-the-century railroad experience. 5 Hours

Great Railway Journeys: Santos to Santa Cruz - Travel Video.
Acorn Media
Publications.

Lisa St. Aubin de Teran,
the poet-novelist with a not-so-secret passion
for trains, travels from Santos, on the Brazilian coast, inland to Santa
Cruz in the heart of Bolivia. It is a difficult and ambitious
journey following the only available long-distance passenger route in the
country’s rapidly crumbling rail network. She crosses what was once
a great rainforest on her way to Sao Paulo, and then it’s on to Bauru,
where she commissions a private train to Campo Grande. Lisa travels
through the Pantanal, where she meets up with the local crocodiles and
finally reaches Santa Cruz in the Bolivian hills.
Throughout her journey Lisa finds many traveling companions with whom she
shares the joys and frustrations of riding the rails. 57 minutes
