DVD. 87 Minutes. Dr. Merry takes the viewer not just to well-known tourist attractions in France, but also back in time when Cro-Magnon men hunted mammoth in the Dordogne region and painted magical scenes of animals on the cave walls of Lascaux. He follows the route of the invading Romans, through their triumphant arches, across aqueducts and into the amphitheaters, which are now used as bull rings. In Roquefort we see the production of the famous cheese and in Perigord the fat geese whose livers make the delicious pate foie gras. The marshes of the Camarque are home to thousands of flamingos and herds of white horses. Free roaming black bulls are bred for the bloodless bull fight. The largest gypsy gathering in the world happens annually at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer.
