Antelope Canyon U.S.A - Travel Video.
DVD. Nature Wonders. 10 Minutes. Just outside the town of Page in the state of Arizona a narrow and unimpressive entrance leads into the mysterious world of Antelope Canyon. The small Antelope Creek River that is infrequently fed by additional water has, throughout the course of thousands of years, cut a fascinating canyon into the red sandstone and created a natural work of art. For thousands of centuries Antelope Canyon lay undiscovered until in 1931 a twelve year old Navajo Indian girl accidentally discovered the entrance to the canyon while herding sheep. Her discovery led to one of the most impressive slot canyons in the United States. The incredible patterns on the swirling, wave-like rock were once covered by torrents of water and now they are so smooth and perfectly shaped that they are like an artistic sculpture. During the day the impressive and colorful play of light and shadow constantly conjures up new visual wonders. Antelope Canyon is often praised as a masterpiece of nature and it is undoubtedly its unearthly beauty that provides this mystical canyon with its universal and captivating appeal.

Canyon De Chelly U.S.A - Travel Video.
DVD. Nature Wonders. 10 Minutes. The Canyon De Chelly is a land full of myth and legend and also a national monument of Native Indian culture in the midst of today's Navajo reservation. Archaeologists have discovered that the deep, rocky valleys of this region were first inhabited by Native Indian tribes around a thousand years ago. The canyon offered natural protection against hostile attack and during the dry months of summer also provided a good supply of water. Today, numerous impressive cliff dwellings indicate the golden cultural period of the famous historic Indians, the Anasazi. Around four hundred years after the sudden and mysterious disappearance of the Anasazi, their ancient dwellings were occupied by the Navajo. However, the tranquil atmosphere of the canyon did not last forever as it was once the scene of various bloody battles between the Navajo and the Spanish. The White House is one of the most famous cliff dwellings and archaeological sites in the Canyon De Chelly and is open to the public. Various impressive petroglyphs have been found close to such settlements and many of these rock paintings date back to the time of the Anasazi. Few regions in the United States manage to unite both Native Indian history and culture with a natural landscape such as that of the Canyon De Chelly.

Monument Valley Arizona - Travel Video.
DVD. Nature Wonders. 10 Minutes. For many years, Monument Valley and its distinctive mesas in the northern part of Arizona, have become one of the most famous natural landmarks in the United States. The region was populated many thousands of years ago by Native American Indians and there are traces of the Anasazi Tribe, an ancient and once highly developed culture. The characteristic color of the terrain is mainly due to ferrous oxide and occasionally, black veins of manganese oxide can also be seen in the rock. However, Monument Valley's main feature is the stunning beauty of its various spectacular rock needles and towers. For the local Navajo Indians, the gigantic columns mean more than just picturesque scenery, as they have a close and sacred relationship with the landscape of their forefathers. Thus Monument Valley is much more than a world famous nature park. The region is also greatly valued as a colorful focal point of ancient Native American Indian culture and tradition.

Monument Valley Arizona - Travel Video.
DVD. Terra Mystica. 26 Minutes. Monument Valley is situated on the border of the North American states of Arizona and Utah, in a region of magnificent freestanding sandstone rocks that tower 1,000 feet above the desert. More than 200 million years ago, the area was covered by ocean. On the bed were deep deposits of mud, which turned into slate and as the sea bed rose again, the water drained away and cracks and fissures were formed and a vast sandstone plain was created. In the heart of the Navajo Reservation, with its magical rock formations which in the evening sun glow a burning, indelible red, it's easy to understand why nature played such an important part in the lives of its native inhabitants. A sacred atmosphere can be felt everywhere and the existence of ghosts is suddenly all too possible.

Petrified Forest National ParkArizona - Travel Video.
DVD. Nature Parks The Petrified Forest National Park is located in Arizona in the U.S.A. Long ago, the region was covered by a dense forest where mighty rivers cut across the terrain. Water caused by heavy flooding forced dead trees to float to a low lying swampland. In the deep quagmire of the swamp and having, in effect, been hermitically sealed, the trees were subsequently covered by layers of sediment. Thus their further decomposition was halted. As the trees piled deeper and deeper into the swamp, the petrification process began. Mud, sand and volcanic ash settled above the trees that gradually absorbed minerals from the surrounding moisture. Thus, hundreds of fossilized trunks developed that today, are scattered across the prairie. Today, the Petrified Forest's formerly tall conifers are the most common examples of this stone world of plants that dates back to prehistory. The numerous colors of the pure quartz and various other varieties of the "stone trees" are quite remarkable and in stark contrast to the bright blue of the mostly cloudless sky. Most impressive is the millions of years old geologic phenomenon of the stone forest in the southern region that is situated only 2 kilometres from the entrance to the national park. In the Long Logs area, that is located close to Giant Logs, there are hundreds of thousands of fossilized specimens. There are around 300 archaeological sites in the park that range from small discoveries, that have uncovered items of clay, to the incredible Pueblo dwellings of the Anasazi Indians. The Petrified Forest National Park combines the majestic brilliance of its petrifaction with the rugged beauty of a colorful desert. It is, without doubt, a unique masterpiece of nature.
