This course represents a departure from programs in other languages, in that it is specially designed to teach how to read Georgian literature and from there you should be able to slowly learn to speak the language because now you will be acquainted with sentence structure. The accompanying audio CD discs will assist with the reading materials and teach the sounds of the Georgian language. This course is intended for beginners and starts by teaching the unique Georgian alphabet and basic pronunciation. The reading and translation passages have been selected from both classical and modern Georgian publications and are recorded as well on the tapes. The course was developed by Professor Howard Aronson of the University of Chicago.
